A Mystery Visitor!

Posted by csmith | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 12-01-2018

Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a fun and restful break. The children in FS2 have come back to school ready and raring to go. They have enjoyed being back in the routines and have been working hard in Phonics, Maths and Literacy.

Something very exciting happened today…when we arrived at school we spotted some large footprints on the floor! Who could it be? Where had they come from? The children suggested it could be a polar bear, a monster, a dinosaur…there was even an idea that our site facilities officer had come in wearing claw slippers! There was an intriguing sign which read ‘Have you seen my smile?’

We had a look for some more clues and found other signs that someone had been to visit us.

A strange shadow

Could this be a whisker?

And finally…

…a furry tail!

We looked closely at the stripy pattern and we are now pretty sure our mystery visitor is a tiger! A tiger who feels sad and wants us to help find his smile.

Maya drew this picture of a sad tiger.

Will we have any more visits from our furry friend? Will we be able to help him? Pop back soon to find out!

Merry Christmas!

Posted by csmith | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 05-12-2017

We welcomed our parents, carers, grandparents and friends in to school to take part in a festive craft session. We all had a wonderful time! At the end of the morning we sang some songs we have been learning. Everyone loved it!

Take a look at the pictures below.

Thank you to everyone who came along!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

A Message From the North Pole!

We were very excited this morning…when we arrived at school, there was a Christmas tree with a very special visitor perched on the top! The letter said his name was Elvis the Elf and he has been sent to keep an eye on us in the run up to Christmas! He brought a list of care instructions, plus a very special gift…the first of many. The gift was a book, all about The First Christmas. We will receive a book every day, which we are very excited about!

Here are some pictures of us opening the letter and the gift, and of us decorating the tree. We think we did a fantastic job, don’t you agree?!

FS2 Blog

Hello and welcome to our FS2 Blog page!

This is where you will find information and photographs about the wonderful things we get up to in the Foundation Stage here at Buckingham Primary Academy.

Since starting school full time in September, we have settled in well, we’ve formed wonderful friendships and all work very hard every day!

Here is a photograph of us:

In this photo we are showing that we are “All Different, All Equal.” We did this as part of our school’s Anti-Bullying Week.  We love this photo as it shows that we work together as a team and look after one another.

Today was Children in Need and many of us dressed up in spotty clothes!

We had so much fun! We learnt all about Children in Need, the different ways in which we can raise money, and who we are helping by doing this.

Please check back regularly for more news and updates!

Yucky Worms!

Posted by csmith | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 26-05-2017

This term we have been learning all about worms! We found out where they live, what they eat, and why they are so important. At first we were not so keen on worms…now, we don’t think they’re so yucky, after all!

We read the book ‘Yucky Worms’ by the author Vivian French. It taught us lots about worms and what they do. Then we watched a video that showed us how to create our own wormery!

We followed instructions to make our own, adding layers of soil and sand. We collected leaves and twigs and put them on the top. The next job was a bit tricky…we had to find some worms!

After five long days we managed to find eight worms for our wormery! We were fascinated to see the tunnels they made.

Our last job is going to be to release them back into the garden.

Thank you for looking at our FS1 Blog – come again soon!

FS1 Phonics Week!

Posted by csmith | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 13-11-2016

The whole Foundation Stage held Phonics Week this week, with all activities linked to phonics and phonological awareness.

In FS1 we focused on Phase 1, which included lots of listening games using musical instruments, sounds in our environment and using our voices to create different sounds.

On Tuesday we welcomed parents, carers and grandparents in to our classroom and garden to find out what we have been doing. We would like to say a big thank you to those who were able to join us! See below for some photographs from the day…

Don’t forget to come back soon for more photographs and updates!
